those crazy norwegians wednesday 11.08.2006

that's trond, the talent behind these terrific hats. i discovered him some months ago and have been a great fan of his handiwork ever since. just yesterday he invited me to join the knitting project. it works somewhat like a lottery: you can enter the drawing by uploading a shot of your head. if he likes your portrait, then he'd knit you a beanie.

hello

is that head big or what? anyway, erkan took that picture of me today in office. i can't believe i did this but i actually submitted it to the pool. i hope i get selected; goodness knows i can always use a beanie in this santa barbara weather.

So are you going to join the campaign to get him to send you the black and white hat? He did say he thought it was more suited to a female although his original design was for a guy.

Whoa! Blogging about The Knitting Project! That's awesome! Being involved with The Knitting Project myself, I must say I'm honored by this too! As some of you might know, the whole project started when Knitkid (Trond) asked me to take a portrait photo of all the people he had given out hats to. We enjoyed this so much that we decided to go international with the project. And since I can't travel around the world on a daily basis and photograph all those people he's sending out hats to, we're depending on people to take them themselves. Until now, I think ten or elleven hats have been sent out to people all around the world, and it's so fun to see the portraits they return..

So if anyone reading this wants a hat, then please just join our group! Our intentions with this project is to maybe make an exhibition out of all the final photos, maybe a book too... We'll see. It's all really up to Knitkid, he's the boss! :-)

And Schmeebot: If this blog entry doesn't get you a hat, I'll personally have a word with Trond and talk some sense into him! ;-)

By the way, all the hat portraits that gave us the idea for the group can be seen at my flickr page, http://www.flickr.com/photos/lapsklaus

so soft, warm and cozy.. good luck, they're great hats. touques even, but not beanies. by definition, a beanie is hard shelled, like a baseball cap, and has a propeller on top.

hate it when people mistakenly call them beanies. ; )

Damn it, I mean "blogging about US, THOSE crazy norwegiANS"... I can be so self centered some times... Sorry laps...
And Schmeebot: I already made a hat that was meant for you, but I`m not quite happy with it, so I have to make you a new one. And since I`ve started also knitting bigger stuff, it might take some time. So be patient:-)
