yesterday, while doing a bit of research on the location of "the playground," i stumbled upon this guy's flickr. i proceeded to snoop around his photostream and found an entire collection on local sierra club hikes, most of which i have never even heard of. in my usual brazen fashion, i wrote to see if i could come along on the next sierra club hike.
he never hasn't replied.
so today i grew a small brain and googled for local sierra club hikes. one of the links took me to the angeles chapter's website, where i immediately suffered flashbacks of the lovely time i spent with a group of fine sierra club members. i remember swearing off involvement with the sierra club after that experience, but the desire to explore new hikes is so powerful right now that it caused my credit card to leap right out of my wallet and charge itself for a membership.
so now i'm a proud sierra club member, free to join any hike i like without having to solicit complete strangers for an invitation, right? not really. when i went to sign up for the angeles chapter's schedule of activities, i was denied because i don't have the angeles member number. in fact, i have no member number whatsoever.
but what i do have is a friend request! from some guy in new york no less! holy f*ck, did i just pay good money to join facebook?! i don't want no stinking friends. just give me a schedule of activities, motherf*ckers!
what am i doing? i'm fuming at the mouth because i just got ripped off by the sierra club, that's what!
