i had so much fun snowboarding yesterday. jg and i decided to spend the last of our quad pak lift ticket at northstar on easter sunday. it was magnificently warm and sunny. the resort was nearly deserted. and i only fell once!

fat head heathen

embarrassingly enough, i wiped out while trying to go as fast as i could on a flat stretch. nothing scares me more than a flat trail.

anyway, look at my one knee in that picture. isn't it scary looking? i was wearing jg's skateboarding kneepads. i had bruised up my knees pretty badly the time before so jg made me strongly suggested that i protect them this time. wearing them along with the enormous ass pads made me feel like a lump waddling around. surprising to see that i don't look entirely clumsy in pictures.

assessing slope steepness on the ax handle trail

i met jg at the top of the mountain for lunch. afterward, we went for a blue run that turned out to be the steepest i've ever done. jg took footage of me shredding my way down. i thought i was going pretty fast but the video shows otherwise. i slid out a couple times. i was testing out the knee pads. i really was. i swear!

i have worn many of my handknit hats snowboarding but none received half as many compliments as this one did. a northstar staff guy pointed at my head saying, "sweeeeet hat." a woman in the parking lot shouted, "i love your hat!" comments all day long, in the lift line, on the slopes, even in the restroom. in the morning, each time i heard a compliment i was never quite sure if it was directed at me. toward the end of the day, i just say thanks without even looking. because i'm a star that way,

ass pads and all.

i would tell you that i love the hat but then i would be just like everyone else and you would ignore me.

The hat is awesome.. Where did you get the pattern my daughter would so love it.

I'm not sure that this will give you the same look but typically eyelashes and other dangling bits tend to stay on the purl side of a knit stitch. Would the hat still look as great with the purl side showing?

I think the schmee has her week's assignment if she chooses to accept it.
