close up on the blemish
since i couldn't get her eyes to look sufficiently feminine, i gave her a beauty mark. if that doesn't work, then how about an incriminating photoshoot?

shortly after i saw this video i decided to knit a sweater with some text on it. except i don't know of any clever words to use. as i am resisting the urge to use schmeebot, i am asking for your help.
so, if you could think of a good word or two which i may use, please suggest. and if you'd like to knit a sweater with some text on it, please join me!

japanese craft book isbn 4.277.43068.6
that's something i didn't want to get but ended up buying anyway. i am sort of glad i got it because, even though the projects are way too basic, the layouts are pretty amusing.

the basics
this next spread made me laugh aloud while i was at kinokuniya.

with and without body
for a new year resolution, i would like to share more images from my japanese craft books on schmeebot. i hope to post them at regular intervals. once a week if i'm not lazy. we'll see.
for another new year resolution, nicole and i are toying with the idea of a craft- along. i would like to call it plush-along because i'm obsessed with sock+glove animals. eventually i hope to branch out to ugly dolls and may be totes. if you are at all interested in doing these fun little projects, please let me know. i am wide open for ideas and suggestions.
join the madness.

| knit postcard |

the perforated surface is actually the top of my giant old school monitor. it's just warm enough to make for a great spot for blocking small knits.
anyway, the swatch is the postcard i made last night. i got inspired by nicole except i have no such fun yarn. i had to try getting creative with the plain wool and that's the best i could do. i guess it's a good way to alleviate my obsession with knitting text.
the tricky part now is mounting it on a piece of cardboard. how?

thanks to everyone for having suggested various fun text for a sweater. i got quite a few votes on "deep fried" but i just couldn't bring myself to knit that many letters. i also like gopi's idea of spelling something backwards. i seriously considered using "tink" or "rettink" because i rip all my projects at least twice before i'm happy with the knitting.

see through sweater
alas, i decided to go with a safe word with just enough letters to keep me challenged. blame it on this picture.

outside magazine feb 2006
oops, wrong picture. that one inspired some other activity. i meant this one.

kris freeman, cross country skier
straight forward and fairly appropriate. verb, noun, brand, no matter. i thought about getting fancy and knit each letter a different color, etc. i'm glad i kept it simple; gray and blue caused enough swearing as it was.

seen in the same outside issue
i'm going for that as soon my text knitting skills are improved.

as unhappy as i am with the pucking of the letters, i am not going to reknit them. it's not an easy decision, but i shan't rip! if i finish this project, it will be the first straight shot sweater i have ever made, faults and all!
i was asked about the font. i like arial but i did not model my letters after it. i just opened up an excel spreadsheet and messed around until the letters look acceptable.

orange got hacked
last night it occurred to me that the letters are dangerously close to spelling "crap." anyway, should you decide to knit up the same letters, i would advise omitting one column of stitches between r and a, shown in light blue. also, i would be very happy.
would you like to see the pdf?

than the handmade sort. last week jayme graciously gave me some slubby yarn which i've always gushed about. she spun+plied these herself.
now, what can i knit that would look fun in rainbow?
