first, let me show off my find of the month for april.
that's about eight ounces of hand spun hand dyed yarn. i bought all three hanks for $7 at scrap, a store i discovered by accident saturday morning when jg dragged me to macbeath. i was told the colors were derived naturally from onion skins: lovely oranges and browns (not pink). great stuff. i dug around all the yarn bins but that's all they had. not enough to knit anything significant, unfotunately.
next, you will be shocked by how many projects i have on the needles. i started all these within the past week.

after eight thin mint
the mint yarn was given to me by the gracious maura. i am not happy with the saddle shoulder decreases so i'll be ripping it back for the simpler default, the raglan.

noro one two six
kureyon. that's right, the yarn i abhorred a few posts back. i am obsessed with the colors, particularly number 131, 126, 95, and pretty much any combo with green in it. i blame the hypocrisy on jg. he comments on the psychedelic colors everytime i wear the technicolor. as i wear it almost daily, i am convinced it's the coolest yarn.
anyway, look! i have finally succeeded in knitting someting sock like!

fuzzy feet for sarah flores
i am already 25% done with the other foot. it doesn't look like much but it's a huge accomplishment for me: i followed the pattern word for word, everybody! clap for me!
this last project was started over two weeks ago. i figure i'd show it so you can see everything i'm knitting.
it's my last ditch effort for the zicka. i am going to sew a zipper on a cardigan even if it would be the end of me.
i hope you said rabbit rabbit yesterday when you woke up.

i forgot to include this project in yesterday's post.

started last friday
that green is a lot more vibrant than it looks. the yarn is thick+thin, fun to knit with but makes for a faulty looking fabric.
anyway, this sweater is also getting ripped back. operator error. i meant to shift the sleeves forward by three stitches each. i got clever and moved the side seam markers. next thing i know, the sleeves are twice farther front than i wanted them to be.
knit. rip. knit. rip.

progress report on the striped sweater:
i decided to stay with the saddle shoulder decrease after all. i actually knitted it half way back up using raglans only to realize that i gave up too easily. so i ripped it back again and learned to deal with the saddle shoulder.
the rolled part of the neck is actually the hem waiting to be sewn down. i am not happy with the collar yet so i should say that it is waiting to be reknit. i'll be done with the bottom ribbing in another inch. you can see i've started to knit down the left sleeve. i would like to make long sleeves but i only have one ball of mint yarn left. if it isn't enough, i will end up with one striped sleeve and one solid brown. or, may be two short sleeves?
enough knitting quandary for today. happy monday, everyone!

today i'm forcing myself to be done with the after eight thin mint sweater.

blocking
the full sun exposure is probably foolish but i can't wait for it to dry. i think i need to re-work the collar again. i tried it on earlier and was not happy with the way it looked. i knitted a crew neck but it turned out more like a mock turtle neck.
i am hopeful that the entire fit will improve after blocking. if not, maura said i could blame it on her.

my griping paid off, everybody! sf weather is perfect today. and i got to shop all morning!

my fine accomplices
i met up with mariko+amy at the ferry building around ten. we hunted around farmers' market for various goods before heading up market street. we hit great stores. i think amy did the most damage in three hours. i barely escaped with a bottle of union square water for $1.60.
unfortunately, i took very few pictures. i was too busy laughing at mariko's shoes.

art fibers, aka shelves and shelves of crack

taken while amy signs away her first born for 59 grams of yarn
the next time i employed the camera was at paul frank. did you know that he's everybody's friend?

never mind the tatoos, look at those shoes!

super sexy eggplant
now i'm off to iron some decent clothes. jg and i need to look presentable at a wedding reception this evening. i hope you're having a fine saturday!

so i'm done with the striped sweater. i've been wearing it, but only indoors. meaning: i like it, but not entirely. i'm hoping the love will grow on me. so far, not so good.
before i ruin the next set of perfectly good yarn, i figure i'd take another stab at the sock yarn maura gave me way back when.

75% of sock 001
yes, that same darn sock. i've knitted and ripped so many times that the yarn is all fuzzy and splintered. i had to get rid of the first ten or twelve yards of the of it. so, after six tries, i think i've got the formula figured out.
i think.

sarah flores turns twenty two this friday. i'm not going to finish the fuzzy feet on time for her present, but here they are:

as of this morning
i went by memory for foot two and you can see how well it went. it should work out well because i think she has one foot bigger than the other.
happy birthday, sarah flores!

i had no idea what a creative force amy is when i met her. it wasn't until monday did i have the chance to look through amyville. holy smokes! i nearly passed out hyperventilating over all the clever little beads. oh!
i couldn't get the camera to focus but that's a stitch marker amy gave me. the entire thing is exactly 1.5" long. that little sushi bead would blow your mind. the white part is about the size of a grain of rice. fine art!
thanks, amy!

i'm on a roll, everybody! another finished object!
that's my shoe, size 7.5. the sock looks big, but i suspect it will be too small once it's felted. the fuzzy feet are supposed to fit size 10.
i've decided that i like making fuzzy feet. if you are related to me, expect getting a pair for christmas!
