it's been forever since i last attended cnsf. this week it was hosted by kelly+domo, complete with a full on dinner, which i didn't get pictures of because i was too busy stuffing my face.

cnsf now has a mascot. he's the only male attendant in cnsf history. introducing smoky the mutt.

"i guard craftas from the evil opossum."

please note that our mascot has three ears. also, cnsf now has our own gangsta sign. we take this very seriously.

body, hem up

that's my aran progress as of this morning. the knitting is slow work, especially after blasting through the gay pride sweater. what you see on the needles took me two and a half hours to knit. the off needle part is my first attempt, which took me over three hours. i used us9 needles for it and decided that i wasn't happy with the fabric.

some stats:

yarn: 100% wool worsted weight in an exciting sweatshirt gray
gauge: 20 stitches = 4.5 inches, 6 rows = 1 inch

the knitting looks and feels satisfactory so far. i hope it's smooth sailing from here on.

*name given by holly after she rejected my suggestion of calling it the
holy christmas sweater.

holly and the dragon

holly wore two of her awesome hand knit aran sweaters during my visit. they possessed me to map up some cables the moment i got home.

that's one of the sleeves i charted. the major cable you see is a (downsized) pattern by barbara walker called looping wave. for the body, i'm using walker's double x cable (which i dimwittedly charted before i got the book). you can see it in this action shot taken by jg:
