i've been to all sorts of neat places today: music academy of the west, butterfly beach, the burger spot (downtown carpinteria). i could have taken any number of novel apads but, of course, i failed to take the finepix with me. alas.
how about a glimpse of my desk at exactly 1:39 pm? it'll have to do today because i'm way too full from lunch to move.
cars stop in the middle of the street in both directions for this spectacle. the whole house lights up immediately after thanksgiving every year, like clockwork. i take this street home often and i always feel bad for having to honk and get people moving along. a bit of a nuisance.
it's actually very bright, almost garish. from my bedroom i can see the night sky lit up in the direction of this house.
monday i got a fun box from portland. boxes from portland are always fun. anyway, the content:
clock wise from top: 8 servings of curious sprinkles from holland, a very retro view-master complete with kafka films in square wrapping, a custom requested pouch, and, ding ding ding...
spinny disco globe!
the little bulbs flash in various combinations so the color pattern is ever changing. it's mesmerizing. bill was in my office when i opened the box. he became instantly taken by the globe, turning it on and off and waving it around. he was having a grand time until he started looking at the packaging. it said: for ages 5 to 50. poor bill.
