i met bill at shoreline cafe for lunch today. last time i saw him was about a year and a half ago. he looks the same to me. the only difference is that he now wears suspenders.
something very phallic about that shot, isn't there? anyway, i think shoreline cafe is my new favorite spot for lunch. it's right on the sand. it's pretty shocking that i've lived here for ten years and this is the first time i've been to this joint!
that's a running tab bill keeps with his buddy. it's the size of a business card; bill printed it himself. i don't know why i find it so awesome. probably because i wish i had such a friend.
it's been almost a month since i last hiked. the inactivity plus the excessive eating (lunar new year, superbowl, etc) make the hike to saddle rock today feel twice as long as usual. my heart was beating so hard that i thought for sure it would pop out of my chest and land on the trail flopping like a fish out of water.
christmas sage and deer weed
i have no idea what that lovely red+green plant is called. i don't see it identified in any of the guides i have. i want to believe that it's a native.
the usual nonsense

"make enemy" trail
warning sign is for recent car burglaries at trail heads. how sad i am to see it. but glad to be reminded, i guess.
