jg and i had to go to santa barbara this past weekend. at first i kept thinking that i'd rather be snowboarding. but it ended up being the perfect weekend. i took almost a thousand pictures. nothing extraordinary though. these are my favorites.
seen on haley in front of muddy waters
they were so indifferent they sort of remind me of a couple who has been married for too long. like me and jg.
breakfast at hammond's
shark egg case
i saw four of those. it's the first time i had seen them in real life. i collected two. i love how alien they look.
i potted those along a mess of other succulents this past saturday. the left two are from my own overgrown houseplants. the lovely little red and silver "flowers" are from amanda's roof top garden.
jg and i had to go to sb again this past weekend. i was rather disenchanted that we had to miss a trip to the snow for it. probably why i didn't take as many pictures as i did last time. plus it was storming on and off all weekend.
on the drive down i had a lot of fun taking long exposure pictures. it's a neat way to mess with the full moon.
streaking moon
we got new fences two weeks ago and the installers trampled our yards to bits. that's why we had to spend the weekend fixing them up. i forgot to take before and after pictures.
second of two trips to home depot
my gardener
while out picking up debris in the side yard, i heard a loud whirring above me. i looked up to see...
can you see it?
a nesting hummingbird!
it was sitting only about ten feet above ground but i had a hard time getting a good picture. i enjoyed hearing and watching it come and go. i wonder if there are eggs in the nest.
so, that's all there was to our weekend. jg did most all of the hard work. i just ran around taking pictures.
mallards in muddy creek
speaking of which, we went to muddy waters again for breakfast. we found some more of canine indifference:
they made like gargoyles but they turned rather friendly when i approached them.
i miss waffles
apart from the work, it was a pleasant weekend. i hope we won't have go to go back again until after snowboarding season.
