i had not received one single polaroid postcard for months. all of a sudden, i got two! one from berkeley, one from the uk. the fact that they arrived on the same day makes me suspicious; the usps is surely messing with me.
but i'm glad to see that the unsightly cardstock has ensured delivery. i need to quit my whining and get back to the business of sending polaroid postcards.
i put that together for the polaroid postcard forum, particularly for the members who are tired of sending their hard earned polaroids to the incinerator.
i learned about this seemingly simple quiz from a cute mathematician. it's my friday challenge to you. be sure to turn on your inner spell checker before you start. because, let's face it, if you can't spell mississippi, you might as well move to canada.
i played stand-in for my boss at a meeting today. i had to speak in front of twenty four people. i was so nervous i could hardly say my name. i kept wishing that we would have to do an emergency evacuation for the zaca fire before my turn to speak. it didn't happen.
look what i saw on my way to the meeting.

menacing, isn't it? they're supposedly back burning in order to control the fire. looks like the entire santa ynez valley went up in a mushroom.

i bought those hyacinths at farmer's market this past saturday.* the seller told me to expect a bloom but i didn't believe him. today, he is vindicated.

i've had those fish, four total, for at least five years. they've survived alternating bouts of starvation and raccoon attacks. i'm always surprised to see them. indestructible fish.
*doctor eeob was in town for a few days. i got to hang with her doing our familiar routine, including:
throwing down hundreds at farmer's market
(note the peach boy)
and making like the pig of happiness at borders.
i love that book. mostly because of erin's awesome interpretation of the farm animals' voices. great story just the same. highly recommended.
