that's my most favorite picture of my friend justin. i forget when i took it exactly, but i know it was taken at the beach at spooner's cove. i don't think i've ever met a boy with more ear piercings.
anyway, i just got word that he is engaged. congratulations, justin!
this random bit of conversation occurred last friday:
thuy: i would like a house in big sur
thuy: with my backyard suspended over the pacific
thuy: so i can play these damn ambient songs i love so much
thuy: LOUD
thuy: and make toys
eggie: you might scare off the whales with that ambient shit
thuy: or they might converge under my backyard
eggie: they might think it's their long-lost cousin
thuy: or a dying relative
thuy: i have to post thhis bit on schmeebot
someone forwarded that to me presumably because i'm a professional elf. there's a mess of things on the drawing that i don't agree with but, unfortunately, i can't do a peer review unless i get the calculations.
these are the things i would like to have for this christmas:
it took me days to come up with those four items. as you can see, they're nothing i really need. so if you are too busy or you'd rather work on something useful like world peace, don't bother bringing me anything this year.
well, may be you could work on delivering a few feet of good snow on the sierras so i may go snowboarding. that would be great.
that's one of the many postcards i sent julie while jg and i were backpacking around europe in 2003. i'm so glad she decided to give them back to me instead of chucking them.
it reminds me how much i enjoy sending postcards. i used to send lots when i was an active participant at px. i received lots, too. it was nice.
anyway, i've decided to put more effort back into handwritten correspondence. so, for 2006, i would like to write at least one postcard per month. if i'm good, i'd make that one letter per month. it's pretty darn ambitious given how i can't remember the last time i wrote a letter.
believe it or not, we actually dressed ourselves like that on purpose. we decided to clown around on east beach because of the palm trees. then, lacking much sensibility, we actually made this picture into a christmas card and sent it to every one we know!
two things i really wanted, don't deserve, but was graciously given for christmas:
sigur ros cd from my webmaster
per my request, he also ordered a real tuesday weld cd but it is universally out of stock. how very sad. if you happen to own a copy of where psyche meets cupid, please consider selling it to me.
this next present took me completely by surprise. i got to open it last night.
that's burgess leaning against my christmas present from g. she should have crossed me off her christmas list last month when she gave me her old ipod. how very grateful i am. my very first lomo, i can't wait to mess with it!
as for giving, i am a total scrooge this year. mostly because i have not been feeling very well. i have always been anti giving when it's expected. it has only gotten worse as i get older. yet i still love to receive, for christmas and otherwise. i don't think i will ever grow out of the hypocrisy.
anyway, i hope you had a fine christmas, presents and all!
and brought me something that i do not want. in fact, i told him repeatedly that i do not want this item because i was already given an older version of it. and obviously, santa did not do a very good job looking at my list!
black like coal
you may or may not be able to tell what it is. i'm so embarrassed that i'd rather just show you the table. it's a part of a mega trend and i've always been resistant to it. something about the white ear buds and the repetitive silhouette ads that really gets my goat. may be i'd feel better if i used it with colored headphones.
